Anne-Marie Dauphin- Tinturier a recueilli de nombreux contes, a participé à deux rituels initiatiques dans la région de parler cibemba, en Zambie, et a travaillé sur la numérisation de la performance en littérature orale sous forme d’hypermedia dans le cadre d’une collaboration avec le LLACAN (CNRS).
En 1982, au moment de la réédition de son livre cisungu, Audrey Richards expliquait que le rituel qu’elle avait observé en 1931 avait disparu. Néanmoins, le rituel existait toujours de 1989 à 1998 et s’était adapté à l’évolution brutale de la société. Après une description de ce que fut la culture traditionnelle du Nord de la Zambie, région où cette initiation de filles existait depuis fort longtemps, les trois rituels seront mis en parallèle afin de montrer certaines évolutions. Ensuite, le niveau d’imprégnation du concept d’initiation sera analysé à propos de l’instauration d’une nouvelle religion et de la présence du VIH dans la région.

Anne-Marie Dauphin-Tinturier has collected and analysed a large corpus of tales, has participated at two last ceremonies of the girls’ initiation in the Bemba speaking region of Zambia and has worked on the digitization of oral performance in hypermedia system in a Laboratory of CNRS, [the French National Centre for Scientific Research], the LLACAN (Langues, Langages et Cultures en Afrique Noire).
As the book entitled Cisungu was reprinted in 1982, Audrey Richards explained, that the ceremonies she had observed in 1931 did not exist anymore. However, these ceremonies were still practised between 1989 and 1998 and they had adapted to the brutal evolution of society. After a description of what was this traditional culture in Northern Zambia, a region where the initiation of girls has existed for a very long time, three ceremonies have been analysed jointly and some evolutions are disclosed. Then the level of cultural dissemination of this initiation is analysed in the context of a new religion and the presence of HIV in this area.
